A combination of positive behavioural support and a behaviouristic approach is used for behaviour management.  The premise is that individuals respond to stimuli in their environment. Thus, by providing relevant and useful stimuli (rewards, praise, encouragement) the learner responds to and gains the required understanding of what behaviour is expected and not expected.  Negative behaviours therefore have natural negative consequences rather than punishments.
